Munich and Nuremberg,Germany,May 22,2007–Infineon Technologies AG(FSE/NYSE:IFX)has launched PrimePACKTM,a new 1200V and 1700V power module,which weighs 45%less than modules of equivalent power.Infineon is currently the only semiconductor manufacturer capable of producing such compact and efficient IGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor)modules.This family of compact IGBT modules,presented by Infineon at PCIM 2007,optimizes power conversion systems for a wide range of industrial drives,windmills,elevators,tractors or auxiliary drives,trains and traction The power supply and heating system of the car,etc.
　　The PrimePACK module adopts an innovative packaging concept,making full use of the advantages of Infineon's IGBT4 chip,and has outstanding electrical reliability.This unique module design has many advantages,such as the special layout of the IGBT chips in the module,which greatly improves the heat dissipation efficiency.These IGBT chips are closer to the screw fixing points of the substrate,effectively reducing the thermal resistance effect between the substrate and the heat sink.In addition,the module's internal stray inductance is also about 60%lower than similar modules.
　　PrimePACK modules are available in a half-bridge configuration and modular design,making it easy to adjust the power of the converter by using modules of different sizes or by paralleling specific types of modules together.At present,Infineon has launched PrimePACK modules with two voltage levels of 1200V and 1700V,and each module has two sizes(89mm x 172mm PrimePACK2 and 89mm x 250mm PrimePACK3).These modules weigh 45%less than modules of equivalent power.Due to the reduced weight,it is easier to manufacture and install the power converter.

　　At present,the 1700-volt PrimePACK module has achieved mass production.The 1200-volt PrimePACK modules will be in mass production in September 2007.This series of modules comply with EU RoHS environmental protection standards and meet the requirements of NFF16-101 and 16-102 fire protection standards.
